Just
after WW2, André Glon Senior, a Breton miller, sowed the
seeds of what was to become one of the major players in the French
food business. With the constant support of his wife Louise, this
pragmatic and visionary man started the production of animal feed
in 1947.
Soon
after, the mill ran at full capacity. After years of conflict,
France was hungry. Farmers were working double shifts to develop
both vegetal and animal productions. Some Bretons seized that
opportunity to get their region out of poverty.
To
achieve this goal, they invested heavily, just as Noël, Alain
and André Glon did when they took over their father’s
company in the 60’s. With the independent spirit and tenacity
they inherited from their parents, they worked hard to socially
and economically develop their rural world.
On
the basis of their core business, animal nutrition, they developed
step by step several activities all the way down to the elaborated
food products.
Fortunatly,
a whole generation of entrepreneurs –farmers, craftsmen
and manufacturers- helped them face that challenge, and still
do as of today to bring them the best products.
